KOH SAMUI

The tropical island of Koh Samui is one of the most popular destinations in Thailand and there are many interesting things for you to experience during your travelling time here. Dubbed as the eastern pearl with emerald green beaches, glassy white sand and incredibly charming coral reefs, Koh Samui is considered a tourist paradise for couples and families. There are so many reasons you can not wait anymore, let's explore Koh Samui right away:

The coast of Koh Samui is almost completely covered by beaches. You can find here both quiet beaches and vibrant beaches. The most famous and crowded beaches here are Chaweng Beach and Lamai Beach on the east of the island. Chaweng Beach attracts tourists with its natural charm with white sand, blue sea and sunshine. Here, you can take part in a variety of beach activities such as swimming, visiting bars, pubs, dance floors or strolling along the central area for shopping and relaxing Thai massage. Meanwhile, Lamai beach is famous for being a miniature version of Chaweng beach. If you love the bustle but feel that Chaweng is too noisy and crowded, Lamai is the place to visit. It also has a system of bars and entertaiment services that are suitable for visitors from all four directions.

If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, visit Bophut or Maenam beach or Bang Por -  the more lonely beach.

Not only famous for its beautiful beaches, the temples of Koh Samui are also really unique, including the two most famous temples that you have to visit are Big Buddha and Wat Plai Laem. Big Buddha is the most famous landmark in Samui with a 12 meter high golden Buddha statue that can be seen from a few kilometers away. Inside the surrounding temple are many different shrines and other smaller ornate Buddhas. There is also a small market selling a wide range of lucky charms and other souvenirs, alongside numerous food stalls. Located near Big Buddha to the north of the island is Wat Plai Laem - the colorful, interesting Buddhist temple. The temple is elaborately decorated with an image of 18 arms of Guanyin - Goddess of Mercy - and a large white Buddha image of China placed on the lake.

South of Koh Samui are two fancy stones Hin Ta Hin Yai with the shape as two sensitive parts of men and women. These two rocks are always the top places to take photos when visiting Koh Samui.

Although Koh Samui has many waterfalls, the two most beautiful waterfalls that tourists cannot miss are Namuang Falls. In the water season, the white water flows through the purple sandstone rocks creating a very special color and also for this reason people often call this place the purple waterfall. Namuang Waterfall consists of Namuang I and Namuang II waterfalls with a height of over 80m, you can experience activities such as trekking through the forest, exploring diverse flora or conquering dangerous peaks.

Nestled among the quiet forests on the hill near Na Muang waterfall is the Secret Buddha Garden. Although it is not an official temple, it houses hundreds of statues depicting the famous Buddhist art, texts and legends.

One place tourists definitely must visit when visiting Koh Samui is Angthong National Marine Park, one of Thailand's largest nature reserves and national parks. Take a trip to this park, you will see the beautiful natural scenery of more than 40 islands in the middle of the sea. Along with that are the limestone cliffs and picturesque mountains and forests. You also have the opportunity to go trekking and climbing the observatory to admire the beautiful scenery of the park from above.

The most convenient way to get to Koh Samui is to fly from Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya or Singapore. Domestic flights depart from Bangkok with a frequency of more than twenty flights / day and the fare is quite cheap, only from USD168/ oneway.

In addition to airplanes, you can also travel by train to Surat Thani province, then take a bus to the pier and take a ferry to Koh Samui. This is the right way to move when you want to combine tourism with Bangkok Bangkok and Koh Samui southern provinces.

Different from other places, Koh Samui does not have many public transportation. You can choose songthaew or taxi to get to the locations in the main islands. Another option besides using these vehicles is to rent a car. However, the traffic in Koh Samui is quite complex, so if you are not confident you should not try.

If moving to other islands and some beaches without roads passing by, you can only use the ship. Longtail (long tail boat), motor boat, canoe and cruise ships, yachts are always on hand to take you to explore the islands in the area.

Koh Samui is an island area, so seafood is the king here. You can visit some high-ranking tourist eateries such as Rocky’s, Hua Thanon Market, Five island, Moso Bistro or Pee Soon. In addition, the popular cool restaurants near the sea abound, you are spoiled for choice and enjoy typical Thai cuisine.
